Spider veins are the fine red/blue veins that are located near the surface of the skin – they are most commonly found on the legs. Often hereditary, these veins tend to develop or become worse with pregnancy and prolonged standing.

Sclerotherapy is the primary procedure used to treat these veins. It involved micro-injections of a solution that irritates the veins, causing them to collapse and be reabsorbed by the body.
