Rosacea

Rosacea is an acne-like condition that occurs in adults. It usually appears in people with fair skin and tends to be hereditary. It typically first begins with easy flushing or blushing and later produces pink to red bumps, pimples and pustules on the nose, cheeks and chin. Persistent redness and enlarged blood vessels become evident on the surface of the skin. If left untreated, this condition can progress. Rosacea may also affect the eyes, resulting in dry, itchy or burning eyes, as well as redness and swelling of the eyelids.

Treatment of Rosacea is multi-factorial – often a combination of therapies is necessary to attain successful results. Whatever approach is taken, sun protection is essential.

The redness and visible blood vessels that are the hallmark of rosacea are notoriously difficult to treat. Now, thanks to advances in laser technology, significant reduction of facial redness is possible.
